Deejha Blash-Lopez, a Mountain View Elementary alum and one of St. Vrain's first P-TEACH graduates, discovered her passion for teaching through the pathway's concurrent enrollment and classroom experiences. After student teaching at Mountain View in May 2023, she was hired as a kindergarten teacher there, where she now creates engaging, memorable learning experiences for her students.
Frederick High School student, Tanya Alvarado, solidified her passion for medicine through the Biomedical Science Academy. Tanya was able to collaborate directly with CSU undergraduate mentors through the Anatomical Case Studies Virtual Reality course. “I always thought I wanted to pursue a career in medicine, and this experience really solidified that for me,” she shares. “The partnership gave me a sense of what future college classes would look like – especially because this is a college class.”
Niwot has prepared me for my future by giving me the opportunity to pursue all of my interests, through student council and the IB diploma, and I know that my voice matters here. So, In the future I won't be afraid to try new things and I have the tools to accomplish anything.
The Biomedical Science Academy has helped me understand how medicine relates back to the body which will help me in my future career as a pharmacist. It has also helped with my presenting skills, organization, and note taking. I've been able to take what I've learned and apply it to other classes.
Everyone should take one year of Energy Academy, it will be beneficial. I’ve met so many people, discovered new interests, and had experiences that I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.
From a young age, I’ve been passionate about becoming a fashion designer. My VPA teachers helped me realize I could turn that dream into a reality.
Being able to take college classes during high school is a big opportunity to help you out in the future and it will prepare you for college as well.
Erie High School student, Valencia Thomas, earned her student pilot license from the Federal Aviation Administration while still in high school and combined her love of flight with a strong foundation in engineering through Erie’s Academy of Engineering and Aerospace. The program’s challenging courses in aerospace design, robotics, and creative problem-solving have deepened her understanding of how innovation and aviation work hand in hand. “It was during that time when I realized all the things that were possible,” she shares. “I wouldn’t have found my true potential without the opportunities given to me.”
Talking with my mentor through the RaptorTECH Program gave me a better sense of what workplace readiness actually means including communication, teamwork, and taking personal responsibility for my work.
